Behind the Brand
Since 1938, guests have continuously been served in our original neighborhood diner on Hendricks Avenue in San Marco (Jacksonville, FL). In 1992, the building became home to Metro Diner. John Davoli, Jr. ("JD") and Mark Davioli acquired Metro Diner in 2000. Mark is a trained chef from the Culinary School of the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale. JD left to pursue a career at Cracker Barrel and John Davoli, Sr., a former Regional Vice President for the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, came on board. JD rejoined Metro Diner in 2009 to help with the company's expansion, opening the Mandarin location in 2011, Jax Beach in 2012, and Ortega in 2013.
On February 24, 2010, Metro Diner was featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," hosted by Guy Fieri. We have earned many awards from loyal guests for "Best Breakfast in Jackonsville," "Best Brunch," "Best Server," and many others. We pride ourselves on being part of the community where the locals can come in and feel welcomed and comfortable, as well as being a go-to destination on many travelers' bucket lists. Our committment to high quality service, excellent, innovative food, and a high energy atmosphere has enabled us to continue our growth.
