Caroline Payson is the Executive Director of PCM, a vibrant institution that fosters play, creativity, and exploration in Rhode Island’s children. PCM is the first crucial stop on a child’s learning and cultural pathway, serving as an anchor institution for Rhode Island’s children, families, and caregivers. The museum’s innovative approach expands beyond conventional programs, reaching outside its walls to support individual child development and educational preparedness. Before assuming her role at Providence Children’s Museum, Caroline brought a wealth of experience from her tenure as the Director of Education at the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. In that capacity, she was instrumental in conveying the importance of design and design thinking in everyday life. Her responsibilities encompassed developing and implementing education programs for a wide range of audiences, including teachers, students, professional designers, scholars, and the general public.
